WHAT IS A CAUTI?
Catheter-acquired urinary tract infection. This is caused by foley catheters that have been placed while a patient is in the hospital, and kept in too long, poor post-insertion hygiene, and poor insertion technique. This would fall under the HAI or (hospital-acquired infection).
